Kestrel Nest EcoHut

Description

Kestrel Nest EcoHut perches on Highfield Farm and Woodland – a property uniquely combining small-scale ecological farming with the conservation of critically endangered habitat and endangered ecological communities. Kestrel Nest is off-grid and off-line , eco-lux with many passive sustainable features ensuring the lightest footprint. Features include an outdoor bath, indoor wood heater, outdoor fire pit and stargazing hammocks.

Pull on your boots – there are 14kms of tracks to explore. The Yaven Yaven Creek, a short stroll from Kestrel Nest has rakali and platypus (not that we can guarantee a sighting!). Guest can order produce from the farm or a Regional Hamper and Cellar. There are three experiences available too – Farming with Habitat and Bird Watching and our exclusive hands-on First Nations experience – Barradyal Cultural Experience – run in collaboration with Wiradjuri Knowledge Holder Shane Herrington.

The Local Community: West of the Mountains, east of the Outback and a country mile from stress, there is so much to see and do in our Riverina Highlands region half way between Sydney and Melbourne. With pretty rolling country-side, tumbling waterfalls and gold mining heritage, the region is steeped in natural beauty and history. We have bush and bike trails, and local produce including apple and berry orchards, nut and olive groves and Trufferies! There are also beer, cider and wine makers, and vineyards with views! Cafes and restaurants, cellar doors with tastings.
The Farmers Note: By carefully stewarding the land, we sustain our farm and nurture the habitat for a diverse array of birds, animals, and plants that call Highfield Farm & Woodland home. Realising that farming cannot thrive without biodiversity, we are committed to tipping the balance back towards the environment. Our unwavering belief is that prioritising ecological sustainability is not only the responsible choice but also the morally right one. Join us on a journey that harmonises the beauty of nature, the bounty of sustainable farming, and the preservation of our precious ecosystem and be part of the positive change.
