Myola Farmhouse
Description
Myola is the quintessential Queenslander, sitting proudly atop the rolling green hills of Dayboro. Her restoration has been a labour of love, showcasing the beauty of traditional Queensland architecture; charming wrap around verandahs, VJ’s, high ceilings, french doors and hopscotch windows. We have incorporated reclaimed materials, vintage fittings, handmade furniture and a curated range of family heirlooms, art and trinkets found during renovations. The views from the house are spectacular; of mountain ranges and rolling hills, the sparkling lights of Brisbane city and Moreton Island beyond.
Myola was originally built in the 1890's in Wynnum and later moved to the property by train and bullock team. An article in The Brisbane Courier dated 14th February 1918 notes;-
“DAYBORO – About 50 guests were entertained by Mrs. J. Bond at King's Scrub, Dayboro at her new residence Myola. Dancing occupied the main part of the programme, the music being supplied by M.C. and J. Doyle…”
The Space
The large country kitchen features a freestanding Falcon cooker, farmhouse ceramic sink, extended butcher’s block and traditional kitchen table. The kitchen is well stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and oil as well as everything you might need for cooking and dining. This space flows onto the veranda and outdoor dining table for long lunches and family dinners.
There are 3 spacious bedrooms (1x King size bed, 1x Queen size bed, 2x King Single beds), with the beds dressed in quality linen. The main bathroom features a beautiful clawfoot tub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The second bathroom has the cutest walk in shower, with quality personal care products provided.
There is a cozy lounge room with TV, and what used to be the ‘ball room’ is a second spacious lounge room with a lovely wood burner and comfy leather lounges. The 'ball room' can also be converted into a workshop / studio space. The wrap around veranda has various spots perfect for a cup of tea or a beverage whilst admiring the view.
A short walk from the house will lead to you to the fire pit area; toast marshmallows while you enjoy the huge skies and sparking lights of Brisbane city.
